Differences between Friendster and MySpace?

Posted in Life, Thought  by Rey | September 9th, 2006

This random thought comes into my mind as I am waiting for my sister to get ready for dinner.

What’s the difference between Friendster and MySpace?

I mean yo, both sites are practically portals for people to find friends. But why are the users of both sites are so different in terms of their geographical location? I am a Friendster user myself (although I rarely get into my account), but my good buddy over at unlimitedgamer.net is a MySpace user. You want to know what’s the difference between the two of us? It is really easy to tell: I am originally from Indonesia (AZN country), while he is a random dude who resides in US. You can do a test yourself if you’re a friendster user.

What is the ratio of North American people do you see in Friendster compared to the AZN?

Just ask that question to yourself when you log into your account today.

MySpace is just the opposite of Friendster, you rarely see AZN in there (unless they are born in US, which is what AZN refers to as “ABC”).

So yeah, I still don’t get why are the user base of both sites are so different when they are both the same type of site. Not only that, MySpace is much more popular than Friendster (according to Alexa) in terms of their traffic, so why don’t everybody use MySpace and abandon Friendster altogether?

Do you care? I don’t, so you shouldn’t either. It is just a random thought that comes into my mind when I have nothing to do. Anyways, gotta go, byee~
